Senior Reporter (English News and Current Affairs Section – Radio Division)
(Salary: $45,020 - $51,670 per month, depending on experience)
Entry Requirements : Candidates should have (a) (i) a Hong Kong Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent; and 7 years’ experience relating to news reporting and/or news editorial work; OR (ii) an accredited associate degree / higher diploma in Journalism & Communication from a Hong Kong tertiary institution, or equivalent; and 9 years’ relevant experience; OR (iii) an accredited diploma in Journalism & Communication from a Hong Kong tertiary institution, or equivalent; and 11 years’ relevant experience; OR (iv) a pass in 2 subjects at advanced level in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and Grade C or above in 3 other subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (which may include Level 3 or above in Chinese and English Languages), or equivalent [See the Note]; and 12 years’ relevant experience; OR (v) Level 2 or above in English Language together with 4 other subjects at Grade E or above in the HKCEE, or equivalent [See the Note]; and 13 years’ relevant experience; (b) Level 2 or above in English Language in the HKCEE, or equivalent [See the Note]; (c) good broadcasting voice; and (d) sound knowledge of public and current affairs.
[Note: “Grade C” and “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 3” and “Level 2” respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.]
Duties : Responsible for performing various duties including reporting and commentating on major political stories in Hong Kong and overseas; compiling and reading news bulletins and summaries; sub-editing; supervising and training staff; performing general planning duties; and ensuring the content of news bulletins and news-related programmes is accurate, balanced and of good standard. (Note : May be required to work irregular hours / over-night shifts / on public holidays)
Terms of Appointment & Fringe Benefits: Successful candidates will be appointed on one-year-non-civil service contract terms. If the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct, the officer may be granted a gratuity which, when added together with the Government’s contribution to MPF scheme, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, general holidays, annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted on terms not less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
