HKJA received a complaint that a female reporter from the editorial board of HKUST Students’ Union was suspected to have been indecently assaulted by a male police officer, while covering assembly in Central last night (28/11). The victim immediately complained to the policeman and a female commander, but they did not give a positive response. After consulting legal advice, the reporter planned to report the case formally. HKJA demands the police to investigate the incident with due diligence.

In the past six months, many front-line reporters complained that police officers deliberately rammed them. HKJA emphasizes that journalists should not be subjected to any nuisance or impolite treatment during their work, and this incident is more likely to involve indecent assault, we are very concerned and urge the police to face the problem.
