Violence against Epoch Times is assault on the Press

According to Epoch Times, a female reporter of their newspaper was attacked with a baseball bat near her home today (11/5) and was injured.  HKJA expresses anger over the incident, strongly condemns the violence against the media, and urges the police to seriously investigate and follow up, to bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible.

The injured female reporter is the President of the Hong Kong Falun Buddhist Association and reported that she was recently followed by an unknown man. This is the second violent incident within a month of the Epoch Times’ New Era printing plant being forcibly broken into and destroyed by mobs last month.

HKJA reiterates that press freedom is a core value of Hong Kong’s success, and we will never tolerate any threats of violence against the media and journalists. As in the past the Association will provide all feasible and necessary assistance to journalists and members under attack.
